Tesla's New Software Includes A Perfect Cybertruck Wrap Visualizer
Tesla’s V12 user interface brings the Cybertruck’s stellar UI to the rest of the company’s vehicles. But the Spring 2024 update also brings something special to the all-electric pickup truck. As per Tesla Cybertruck Lead Engineer Wes Morrill on X, users would soon be able to use a colorizer to match the color of their vehicles to its avatar in the infotainment system.
The Cybertruck is available only shipped out in one color — bare stainless steel. Thus, while DIY vinyl wraps and colored PPF wraps have become very popular for the vehicle, the Cybertruck’s avatar in the infotainment system has always displayed a stainless steel all-electric pickup truck. This will change with the rollout of the Spring 2024 update.
As per Tesla’s official X account for the Cybertruck, the Spring 2024 update will bring Powersharing from Vehicle to Home, new horn and lock sounds, cabin overheat protection, and turning circle improvements for the all-electric pickup truck. Apart from these, a colorizer that would allow users to change the color of the Cybertruck avatar in the infotainment system will also be released in the upcoming update.
While a rather minor improvement, having a colorizer helps make the Cybertruck ownership experience feel more complete. Cybertruck wraps will always be a thing, after all, so it will always be a great idea to give users the capability to match their vehicles’ avatar in the infotainment display to the Cybertruck’s actual wrap colors. Expectations must be set, however, as the colorizer will likely be optimized for solid colors initially.
Thus, if your Cybertruck is wrapped with a satin black vinyl wrap, creating an avatar for it using the colorizer would be no problem. If your Cybertruck is equipped with a color change wrap, or a customized pattern, then you might need to settle for something for an avatar that’s only partly identical to your all-electric pickup truck’s IRL appearance.
