Tesla Model X Wheel and Tire Specifications Guide
Prior to the Tesla Model X, ground-up all-electric SUVs were not a popular concept at all. But thanks to its unique feature set headlined by its Falcon Wing Doors, automatic front doors, Bioweapon Defense Mode, and sports car-level performance, the Model X truly established itself as an exceptional vehicle that would probably never be greenlit ever again. Elon Musk said as much when he described the all-electric SUV as the Faberge Egg of Cars — intricate and legendary and rarely attempted.
Since it started customer deliveries in 2015, the Tesla Model X has gone through several subtle iterations. And over this time, Tesla has also rolled out a variety of wheels for the vehicle. Similar to the wheels of the Model S sedan, the Model X’s wheels were designed with aesthetics and efficiency in mind.
The following is a quick wheel and tire guide for the flagship Model X SUV. We tried our best to cover every pertinent detail for every wheel that Tesla’s released so far. Do take note that this article will be updated over time as Tesla releases more wheels and tires for the mainstream all-electric sedan.
Tesla Model X Long Range and Tesla Model X Plaid

Release Date: 2015 - 2021
The Tesla Model X originally launched with four wheel options, though later model years would see the electric vehicle maker offering fewer wheel options for the flagship all-electric SUV. Overall, four wheels were offered for the Model X until the vehicle’s Plaid variants was rolled out.
Following are the four wheels types that Tesla offered for the Model X.
Tesla Model X Slipstream Wheel
Slipstream Wheels were the default wheels of the Model X until the Model X Plaid's shift to the Cyberstream Wheels. The Tesla Model X’s Slipstream Wheels were available in Silver or an optional Sonic Carbon color.

Tesla Model X Turbine Wheels
The Turbine Wheels are the Model X’s upgraded wheels. As per Tesla’s order page for the Model X from back in 2016, the Turbine Wheels exchange about 10%-15% of the all-electric SUV’s range for better handling. It looks arguably better than the base 20” Slipstream Wheels as well. The Model X’s Turbine Wheels were available in Silver or Onyx Black, for that extra intimidating look.

Tesla Model X Helix Wheels
The Tesla Model X Helix Wheel was an optional upgrade over the standard Slipstream Wheels. The Model X Helix Wheels are quite rare, however, as they were eventually phased out by Tesla. Similar to the Model X Cyclone Wheels, the Helix Wheels are also available only in Silver.
